nedd to free up hard drive space on laptop

I would like to free up hard drive space on my laptop. I would like to send some files to my desktop for storage. I have plenty of usb ports and cables. How do I transfer data from one to the other.

insert WINDOWS XP CD ,go to "files and settings tranfer"wizard and go on(CD would guide u).... NOTE:- IF NOT SATISFIED WITH THIS RESPONSE ASK FOR DETAILS OR SEND ME A BLANK MAIL.
