Indian sending a man/woman in space

Hi Recently i came across a news article that we are very near to sending human to space. I don't think that we really need to do that and spend some unaccounted amount of money when we have still so many thing to do/to achieve inside the mother earth in general and India in particular. So much hunger, lack of education,basic infrastructure the list goes on. The end result of such endeavor is, to me, just some news paper article praising us. But how many pepole really read this when the stoach is empty.
