I cried terribly when I read the "Time Traveler's Wife". It really was a sad story and it is hard not to cry when reading something like that.

Paradise made me cry also, I really liked that story, I think I'll dig it out of my book box and read it again. Actually, the one I can't read again it upset me so was Message in a Bottle! My husband bought it for me for my birthday a couple of years ago, and I really liked the story, but the ending did me in.

lol... i'm a big sap... i cry over commercials even sometimes (the shaken baby syndrom ones would get me everytime) so yeah, I often cry over books. But the ones that really get me are the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. She is a great writer and you'll find yourself getting so caught up in the characters of story.. i laugh I cry.. i love those books.

thanks for sharing sunita, but i wonder if the book is written in hindi also?
i can't read hindi, but i'm familiar with bollywood movies. Devdas made me cry watching. i heard that it is actually adapted from a novel.. Maybe one of Shivani's books will be made into movies too one day, then im sure i would enjoy her work immensely.

The last book that made me cry was a book called 'Icy Sparks.' It was a true story about an Appalachian girl who had tourettes syndrome and seizures. It was the story of her growning up being misunderstood by school officials and family members. She was beaten and ostracised by her peers. It was a wondeful book.

When I read Anne Tyler's book "Celestial Navigation," I was in the cafeteria at work when I finished it, and I broke down sobbing for Jeremy, who really loved his family, but just didn't know how; in the end, even his best effort failed, too little & too late.

One book that made me bawl like a baby was called Marley and Me. It's a memoir about a man and his golden lab. The dog is the worst dog in the world, always getting into trouble, but as he grows old and begins to get sick it is soooooo sad, because it reminded me of dogs that I have loved and lost. I had tissues all over the bed from my crying when I finished the book.

When my children were younger, I was reading "Where the Red Fern Grows" to them. We all cried during the last chapters. And then my daughter said "read it again" it took me a few weeks before I could start again.
Also "The Bridges of Madison County" every time I read it I cry. (I guess I think they will get together next time)

i feel the same also, when your mind and heart into it, you almost feel that you can visualize every scene in your mind. An excellent author can also describe every detail until you find that you can imagine it effortlessly.
but i don't understand urdu though, so i have to wait if there are going to be an english version for it. but i'm sure others who's urdu-literate will find your response very helpful. Thanks dareformore!

I felt like crying after reading flight of eagles but i didn't. Well! movies that way are more influential to stirr an emotion than books. Books, its easy to take a break to grab a cup of coffee and relax when it starts growing on you. So, i don't remember crying while/after reading a book.

I agree movies are a better medium in influencing people than books. I was surprised too when i cried over that book! i was too hooked up with it i even skipped my cup of coffee. but you're right though, when it gets too intense, its better to relax and have your coffee first..

The book of Danielle Steel "Kaleidoscope" made me cry in reading it from cover to cover. Now I no longer read her books... kinda exhausting. If you want to cry, I recommend you read it.

the latest book that i read which made me cry was The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks. The story really moved me, the great love that the man had for his wife made me wonder if my husband will do the same if it happens to us.
