harddisk setup

my laptop has 80gb harddisk and its nearly full.
I need your recommendations:
option 1: get a larger drive for the laptop.. 100/120/160gb and then use the old 80gb as an external drive
option 2: just get a large external desktop drive (cheaper) and transfer files there.

I prefer external drives for storing my data, have some DVDs and CDs with other sort of data on it. My internal drive only contains the required software and info, and is almost free of space.

I would go with Option 2 I have had a 35 gig HD for the last few years and have never filled it up I use external drives to store my data on. it works great.

Dude i think external desktop drive is a good as it will be portable wherever you go. It may be of use to you as you may also use with the others.
