Some people say, cats never have to be bathed. They say cats lick themselves clean. They say cats have a special enzyme of some sort in thier saliva that works like new, improved wisk-dislodging the dirt where it hides and whisking it away.
What is yor opinion at this....
I will be glad to have your discussions....

If you really want to bathe your cats, I suggest that you get a pair of long leather gauntlet gloves. Be prepared for the cat to run from you at the first feel of water on his skin.

I bath my 2 kittens at least once a week to help remove excess shedding fur to help reduce hair balls they may have inthe future. I preferthe smell of the soap over the smell of there saliva any day.

We take our cat to the groomer like every few months..Most of the time with the change of the seasons as it help with her shedding. We did take her the first time we bought her home as we got her from a shelter, and she was dirty and had a oder from there. But since it is winter we haven't taken her until it starts to get warmer. She keeps herself pretty well groomed, and we do brush her like every other day as she loves to be brushed. So that helps alot...

Yes, cats do lick themselves and get cleaned on the parts of their body where they can reach. However, they can become smelly even if they stay at home all the time. So bathing them is necessary. And , someone suggests, you should bath you cat once every few weeks. But you have to put the kitten in a small sized bathroom with yourself, and you have to prepare for being scratched by its claws. Once the cat understand your purpose is to make them comfortable and free of louses, she will let you wash her with water.

My cats are indoor cats and I never bathe them unless there is a reason (such as the first day I brought one of them home and they urinated in the carrier).
All I do is brush the ones that will allow me to and they take care of the rest. If they have stuff by their eyes I will use my finger to remove it but that's it. They never have an odor and they always are clean.

My favorite subject. cats do have to be bathed on a monthly. I have three of them. Since they have been kittens Ive got them used to getting bathed I wash them myself. You see I use to be a groomer years ago. They have to be bathed to get the dander out of their skin. That is what makes us allergic to the cat. also you bath them frequently to prevent fleas getting on them. The feas lay egges on their skin sometimes and you have wash them to get rid of the eggs.

Hi there...cats have papillae (small bristles) on their tongues which aid in the bathing process along with the saliva enzyme captured in the papillae.
