Why is Hollywood so Western orientated when depicting African stories.

If anyone has read 'Sunday by the pool in Kigali' it truly provides an insight into how horrific the genocide that occurred in Rwanda in 1993-1994.
The movie Hotel Rwanda was so concered at how the Westerners exited the country, that the true horror of the people was glossed over to a large extent. The same can be said of the new movie blood diamond. The blame is put at the feet of the west. These movie do not understand the fundamental problems that face Africa, rather explaining all Africa's problems as being attributable to the West.
Indeed, the West is a large contributor to the current African crisis, from colonialism to the current economic colonialism, which China is a large contributor as well. But the above films neglect to portray the underlying African issues.
Just like to know what other people think of this topic. I might be completely off the mark.

I have not read the book. Im not much of a reader, the thought of having to read so many pages never really appealed to me. Africa has an all sorts of issues and the movies do tend to shift the blame on the western world but this is where the movies come from and if they feel guilty then thats great, hopefully Africa will get more help that way. Looks like its going to be an extremely slow process though. And as for being completely off the mark... who knows, thats why we discuss these things in the first place, well maybe the second place ;)
