If you could only have one book/magazine/etc....

Only one, for the rest of your life. Nothing else to read. What book/article/love letter/magazine would it be? I think I would pick the Bible. Not because I am exceptionally religious. But because I think it would give me enough reading/thinking material to last the rest of my life. WHat about you? What would you pick?

I would choose the Holy Bible because it is my life. Everythings is there, it is complete. It is the Word of God and it is the truth.

The Bible - Not just another Book!
I'm like you it would be the bible. So many stories in it as well. So much to study and learn from and to think about. Adventure to Romance as well. Everything is in there. A road map for life really.

The one book which I do not have yet and really want to possess is Lord of the RIngs, trilogy. Its a book I have already read more thn ten times but I want to read it over and over again. Tolkein's imagination amazes me. He creates a map, different kinds of people and then rages a war among the people of middle world, uses different vocablary, come on how can just one person imagine so much. I just can not make out how he went about writing this book. What came first to him? How can just one person write this epic. The book amazes me evry time I read it. I was sorry to see the pictures as it failed to capture the magic of the book completely.

I know many people who feel as you do. About the amazement of Tolkeins writing ,and about the poor Hollywood rendition. Good choice.

i would pick a book with fairy tales, myths, and fantasy stories. i loved them ever since i was a little kid, and i read them like tens of times and i'm still enjoying them. my grandfather used to tell me stories, i think i started to like them because of him, he was such a great story teller, and now that he's gone i still have something from him. the love for fantasy stories
