I have a problem and I need to ask your opinion about it.I work as professional dancer in a folk ensemble as I said in my interests. But,every time someone abroad is asking me about my job..and I specify what I do(I dance traditional dance..and society one as tango, vals, cha cha etc)he tend to treat me like I`m a stripper or something like that..and my job has nothing to deal with this.why everyone understand only what they wants?can`t I be paid for other kind of dances?..it`s a shame to represent your country on international festivals and earn money by conservating your tradition?I need your opinion

You follow your heart and your dreams no matter what others say. It sounds like they don't know anything about dance - particularly dance as an emblem of cultural identity, so they just form a stereotype. I think it's wonderful that you're so true to your cultural heritage and what it stands for and that you're showing that through dance. That is something to be admired, not shamed! If it's that big of a deal, you could try to educate them if possible. Sorry if you've already tried this. TAKE HEART, Sky

Don't mind them as long as you know yourself better than them. Your conscience is clear,so stay with it... Be proud my dear...
