When I was a kid, we did not have fences but hedges so we would play and jump over the neighbours hedge along the whole block and run and the kids in the whole neighbourhood would join in.
Like if we were to play hide and seek .And everyone knew everybody in the neighbourhood. Now my kids just play in our back yard, thank God there's 4 and they have each other.

I miss going on vacation to the beach and playing in the river all summer! I grew up in Central California and had the beach one way and the mountains the other. Since I have gotten married 5 1/2 years ago I have only been to the beach 2 times and the mountains they are only a memory. I love to camp and my hubby refuses to go, says hotels are more comfy, and why does he need to go sit in the woods with nothing to do for several days! I have tried explaining to him how important it is to me that our kids experiance nature that way but he just doesn't understand he never did it when he was a kid. :(

I bet it was fun, I know , we lived close to the sea, well Fiji is surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and it was fun just going to the sea everyday to fish and swim and just be in the open.Very relaxing, pass time, man we got tired when we got home, our parents did not have to chase us to bed, we looked for the bed to rest even naps weren't set times our bodies just told us that it was time for a nap.We would take a mat under the mango or coconut tree and pillows and just slept under the trees. Fond memories.
Now I have to chase my kids outside to go and play, if they were given a choice , they'll be sitting in front of the TV the whole day.I am always limiting myself too from the computer to find time to be with them outside too.
