This is hard for me to do but i have taken the advice from everyone who answered my "I have to Quit Smoking" post! I am going for cold turkey and i thought i would start this post out fresh from the beginning to let you all know how i am doing! It has only been an hour since i had a cigarette but i think that i may just be strong enough to do this on my own after reading all of your responses. Although i have yet to get through to comment on all yet there were alot and thank you all for your concern! So here i go and i will keep you all posted on how i am doing if you are interested!

I wish you the best of luck with quitting cold turkey! It's so hard to do, but if you keep at it and find other things to occupy you when you get a craving, you can do it. I've never been able to do it cold turkey, but I've never been particularly interested in quitting anyway. I've always given it a go out of pressure from other people - I've stopped bothering now.
Good luck!

Well an hour and a half later i won't lie to you the cravings are there for sure! I think that i will just chill on my lot for the next hour and a half! That will keep my mind positive enough as well as on other things!

Great for you!! My husband quit smoking cold turkey also. It didnt seem to bother him very much. If you get a craving, chew a piece of gum. You have alot of willpower to try this and its awesome!

Way to Go! My quit day was Jan 5th. I actually used the Nicoderm Patch for a week but have been fine. The hardest part is getting over the habit of doing the hand movement to and from your mouth. I would recommend getting plenty of gum and some type of hard candy that will give you that movement from time to time. Another thing that helped me is putting a pack of gum in all my places that I smoke-garage, car, etc. This way when I am in those areas and want to smoke I grab a piece of gum. You should also set up some rewards for yourself. For me after the first weekend I just took myself out for ice cream. Then after 2 weeks I went out and bought a new outfit. Once I hit the month I plan on doing something new with my hair. Best of luck to you and keep us posted!

Keep it up! I quit smoking cloves myself on 1/1 and have been able to stay away. I would suggest drinking a detox tea each morning. heck, it couldn't hurt!

cudo's to you. Quitting smoking is one of the hardest things to do. Stay strong and you can pm me in caps (yelling) if you are ever frustrated.
I have thick skin and a good pair of shoulders. I'll volunteer to be your verbal punching bag.
Good Luck

hi, your so brave for quitting cold turkey, ive tried on numerous occasions and also tried for my new years reselution but i couldn't handle it, i was going out of my mind and wanted to kill somebody, plus my partner smokes and he doesn't want to quit so it was very very hard for me to just go a couple of days without one! congratulations anyway and i hope you succeed, maybe one day, i wil too! :)

Good luck on it venture. Some of the problems with quitting is the habbit part. They say it take 3 times to make a habbit, but 30 days to break one. So, that said, you can replace your "bad" habit with a good one, like chewing gum or twiddling a pencil. It keeps your hands busy.

Hi, I just wanted to say good luck with quitting smoking. It's hard to do, especially cold turkey, so I think you're very brave with that, but it'll be worth it in the long run. Why not try nicotine replacement? Some of it's pretty good, particularly as you can get it much cheaper on prescription. Or smoking cessation sessions, most NHS Trusts run them for free.

My husband quit COLD TURKEY over 25 days ago! He's doing good. He is a little moody but that's about it. The first week or two, he had to eat snacks and change his habits... He did buy a lot of beef jerky! LOL
I haven't heard anything else from him. I think he's forgotten about them.

Hope you are doing well! No matter what, just keep quiting and quiting until you are finally free! My husband and I both quit cold turkey 14 years ago and although there are still times I get a craving, I am so happy that we quit. It is so much healthier and you will feel better as the poisons leave your body. Best of luck!

Congratulations on quiting! I wish you all the best of luck. One thing a family member did is she went got twenty dollars in dimes, every time she wanted a cig. she would put a dime in a jar, at the end of six months she used the money to buy herself a present. Plus you will see how much money you have wasted on cigs. I wish you all the best of luck, don't get discouraged is a hard thing to do.
