Today in History...Life still here but nearly wiped out.

on this day in 1995 a Norwegian Satellite was launched into orbit and due to a close proximity to the water the Russians thought this was a Submarine launched Warhead. They went so far as to arm warheads and warm up their own missiles before cooler head prevailed and they figured out it was not an attack.
That would qualify as a bad day...Imagine that dinner conversation "How was work dear?"..."Well it went OK until I accidently wiped out 3/4's of our species"..."How was your day???"

That would definatley qualify as a bad day!
And, not just a bad day....a horrible, sad, scary day!!!
But, at least the life is still there! WOW.
That is crazy...just because of one mistake, Hum... :)

I guess that is why the powers that be, even the Russians put in safeguards against these kind of things and that is what kicked in and make them stop and look at what was really going on.

Wow! I had no idea that happened! How crazy how close call that was!
Talk about a conversation stopper at dinner! I wouldn't even know what to
say to my partner if he were to bust out saying what almost happened.
Let along, if he told me that it did happen. I would be floored!
I am grateful that they stopped to make sure they didn't make a huge mistake!

If someone told me that...I would think that they were kidding and I would start laughing until I saw that they weren't.
I would also have no idea what to say. That is what you call an ackward silence!! :)
