I admire my mother-in-law very much. She is such a gracious hostess and goes above and beyond to make guests in her home feel welcome and comfortable. She has the ability to make people feel cared for and shows genuine interest in her guests.
The small details such as fresh towels and flowers in the guest room/bathroom, a book placed on the nightstand, and coffee or tea cups ready for morning. She makes note of what her guests prefer as far as food, snacks, drinks and even scent preference for a spritz on the sheets at night.
When we visit overnight I feel like a cherished part of the family (which I am) and I know that others feel the same way. I have taken many of her ideas and combined them with mine to make our guests feel just as welcome in our home.
What are some of the things that you do to help guests feel welcome and comfortable in your home?

Your mother-in-law has such an admirable traits. I am always frequented with guests and visitors and yet I find myself as an inept host :-( Somehow I try my best to make my guests comfortable but still I know I need improvements. Thanks for your post. I have learned some useful tips.

You seem to be very gracious and I know your guests appreciate your efforts. I doubt you are as inept as you think you are. : )
