Why is it that software piracy can't be stopped?

It is simply because people always want free software and there will always be people willing to provide it. Crackers tend to put up software that majority of people want to use like Office-type software, different games, and specialized one.

it can't stopped because there are some people who buy this pirated products...if one does not tolerating this things the manufacturers will gonna stop the distribution and manufacturing of the said pirated software...others really want to have free software because they believe they can save money but they don't think that it might impinge on the economy of one country :)

it is not only because most people want free/ cheap software but some people make good money out of it. and there is demand so there are suppliers.

The software piracy can be stopped only if the publisher cut down the cost.

I think windows xp would top the list,because of it cost people get diverted to pirated os.This can be stopped only if the cost of os come down.

Because people don't stop buying them. As long as there is a demand, the supply will not stop. Another thing is, pirated softwares are less expensive and everyone can afford it. Imagine if all softwares are original, only few people can afford it. If they only had a sense of integrity, but sometimes they have no choice.
