Joining the army is very much a personal choice. I view it as more of what a person can get out of it, if you’re aware of the issues involved and feel it can improve your life, I don’t see why it’d be a bad choice.

It surely did improve my life, That is of a personal nature . At 16yrs , of course I was very young and having a father that spent 1939 to 1945 overseas , I thought it would be an excelent choice of employment. I had already spent some time in army cadets and the militia.

That's rather good to hear actually, mind if I ask how long you served?
I've personally been interested in joining the Territorial Army (British Army reserves) fitness the only thing preventing me, which I'm slowly improving. At the moment there seems to be so much I could gain from it in terms of skills and real experience.
I don't think I'd be one for full-time service, I'm to attached to my family, though I admire anybody who can do that.

I may have taken that more cheekily than it was intended for some odd reason, and I'm not even Canadian! :)
