Eighteen months ago, when i moved into my present house, i was given 2 guppies by my daughter as a present because she knows I like fish. So, now, I have about 200 of the little creatures, and have bought 2 more tanks to keep them in, Now, my question is. What do I do with the dozen or so babies born each day? I already supply my other daughter with food for her Jack Dempsy fish but some of these fish are just too beautiful to be relegated to the stomach of some greedy ugly fish. And pet stores aren't willing to take them off my hands

I don't know what to tell you, we were give about 10 guppies about 2 months ago and our tank was so polluted with them that we took them out. Our local pet store took ours. We did buy 4 male guppies for our new tank. They do sell them that way.

OH wow! I Have never seen a guppy I don't think... LOL Have you tried giving them away to the neighborhood children?? Or donating them to school classrooms?? :) Have you tried ebay? Or even craiglist.org?? :) Good luck. Amazing how they breed so fast.

Well if I was in the same country as you I would have bought them. Well I guess you could find some other hobbyists in your area to take them, or sell it to them. Well for sure some of them would be feeding them to other predatory fish coz guppies breed like bunny rabbits. Best bet is to sell them at low price.

If you have an aquarium club near you then go to a meeting (even join) and you might find people that will be willing to take the guppies off of your hands or even find out about a pet shop around you that will pay you for them or give you credit for foods and other items that you need. Of course you know that once a female guppy becomes pregnant she can give birth to several broods of young with out seeing a male again. This is why you are seeing so many different color young coming out. I am going to be building a fish room for breeding fish and I intend on getting a pair of dwarf pike cichlids (to get rid of cull fish, those that are deformed or not up to good standards).
