My dog's suffering with otitis media, I went to a vet to ask for drops, suprisingly it cost much and one bottle will not be enough to cure it completely. Someone told me sometimes its better to use human medicine, but he's not a vet. I found this - CEFALEXIN 250mg/5ml powder for supension and one of its indication is otitis media. Can I use this, how much, how often and how long shold i give? Here's the dosage ---- Adults - 10ml 3x/day; 6-12yrs old - 5ml 3x/day; 1-5yrs - 2.5ml 3x/day and below 1yr - 2.5ml 2x/day. My dog is a female Golden ret. 22months old and 20-22 kilos. thanks

Are you sure it's otitis MEDIA, and not EXTERNA? Goldens have externa frequently, and I have found a med called Zymox to be far and away the best treatment for this. Check it out.
