Why is Social Security Disability so hard for some to get?

I'm having a real hard time understanding why some can get SSDI very easily while others struggle for years and end up losing everything. For example, I filed for SSDI in June of 2002 after my 3rd heart attack, and I'm still waiting nearly 5 years later. I went to a hearing before ALJ in August of 2004, and he denied my claim based in part on the fact that he was looking at medical records that weren't even mine! I've been trying to get back to court ever since and they are just dragging their heals. I am now having severe pain in my feet and legs due to diabetes, I've been diagnosed with emphyzeme, and suffer from bi-polarism and major depression. Yet I continue to have to wait. A younger man I know very well filed for SSDI because of obesity and was approved within 3 months. I think he was obese because he wouldn't get off the couch and away from the soda pop and potato chips. What do you think? Is this fair treatment? My lawyer says that I will be approved when I get back into court, but it's been nearly 2 1/2 years since I was in court, and the end is nowhere in sight.

It is indeed a Sad day when things like this continue to happen. I have personally never understood this either. I think in some ways they are too strict, and in others too lenient. I feel they need to revamp the system for sure on how they make their decisions, and go from there.
