In 1952 the Canadian military introduced a plan to recruit young men into the army at 16 years of age. They offered 2 years academic training, trades training and of course military training. The 2 year period was all pensionable time. The total enrolement time was 7 years with a five year option.During the first two years of service they were required to wear green flashes on their upaletts. Hence the young men were refered to as Green Monsters. I am proud to say I was part of that era and served my country for tweny-five years and retired.
