I first watched the movie, Serendipity, about six years ago. After that, I watched it again about four times already. I believe in destiny -- that each of us has somebody meant only for us. That no matter how hard we try to make a relationship work or make that someone stay, but if he/she isn't that person destined for us, then there's nothing else we could do about it. Do you believe in destiny?

ive watched that movie too way way back. destiny? its not easy to accept it to oneself that someone greater above us has control over our lives.. thinking no matter how hard you try to make things greater or nicer, you'll aways end up submitting your self to the one "greater" above us and to always make way for his will to happen... because it was meant to be and its destined to happen.. so now tell me, destiny sucks?

Call it the Divine Will. sometimes its hard to accept the fact that we cant always get what we want or things dont always turn out the way we wanted them to be. we are given choices how to better our lives, but it's only a matter of making the right choice, one which is according to the Divine WIll

like what u've said we were given options or choices and it's just a matter of making or choosing the right one right? the thing is no matter what choice u pick it's all always HIM who designs or directs what gonna happen next... so it's all really up to him. No matter choice or decision you make, in one flick of a hand... the last word will always be his. He's to decide on what kind of ending one's will have.. am i an atheist? LOL i'm not

as we go along with our daily lives and suddenly we bumped into something that is life changing but it would just lead us to another situation that would connect us with another situation and so forth, that is destiny but we still do make the decision on what to do whether we go left or right. in a love relationship we are all bound to meet that someone who would link us up with our destiny but we still make the decision whether to take it up or not. even if we do nothing we are still making our destiny. i do believe because i believe in myself.

a bit of both
do i believe in destiny? yes, some things are just "meant to be". i believe that everyone has things that they are "meant" to accomplish in life, however do i believe that we make our own destiny? yes, i also believe that these things are not always accomplished.
i believe that nothing happens without a reason behind it, even the small things in life are significant. but in the end the only one who has control of your like is you. the best we can do is strive to achieve the things that we believe we are supposed to. and leave the rest to destiny itself.

i've watched the two parts of Butterfly Effect. somehow, it made me realize that we have to think thrice before making any decisions in life so that there will be no regrets in the future. Fortunately in the movie, the character can go back to the past to change whatever he wanted to change but in real life, we can only say, "If only I can turn back time!"

yes, but i think that we shouldn't just let it decide for our life or we shouldn't let things happen without trying to change them first.. i mean, destiny exists but we still have the power over our life..

ya i believe in destiny but i also believe that destiny and hard work goes hand in hand. v need to work hard to make our destiny. if my relationship with my husband is going wrong then i have to make the effect to resolve them, i can't sit idle saying that destiny will do it. so be active and try to cherish ur belief.

Serendipity!!
A beautiful word, and an even more beautiful movie.
The way John Cussack and Kate Beckinsale interact in this movie, startin form that outright smartass manner in which they try and retain that glove grabbed by some other bloke... to teh last scene where kate finds him lying at teh centre of teh skating rink...... The movie weaved in its story line the truth about destiny adn how that can make someone literally run cross crountry in search of teh other person.
Destiny..... A fact, we cannot deny... everyone we meet, everything that we encounter is part of our destiny, we cannot change that. What needs to be done is to learn from it, enjoy it, cherish it!! I ahve had my share of experiences from extremely beautiful to extremely horrific, and yet I've cherished and learnt from the all.... I've learnt to live life....
Don't worry be happy, just do what you believe in... the rest taht happens is all destiny... be it your love life, or professional life, or anything else taht's happening around you!!
Till then cheerio!!

I really don't believe in destiny in relationships that work out. The idea of having someone really meant for you, and can do nothing about it? Well, this happens! But I don't think it's destiny. More of compatibility. I think what we would like to say here for better understanding of what happens, while taking away any celestial intervention, it boils down to the idea that we would really be "meant" for somebody who would be most compatible to us. And the idea that a partner is "Not Meant" for us just mean she is not compatible to us, then it would show that we would really have a very hard time to make things work. Just my logical explanation to what we believe in destiny.
But hey, there still might be destiny's work somewhere. When we get to meet them that may be destiny. but to have them as our partner for life, that, my friends, take work. :)
