what do other people think of tattoos?
If you have them, do people treat you differently?

You bet; but, the lines are changing. We had a shop; after 9/11 firefighters, cops, lots of folks got memorials done. Most people have children, parents. People who have passed.
They used to only be on soldiers and bikers. Some people still think that way.

I agree that the "times are changing" in regards to tattoos. I don't think it's as taboo or considered rebellion anymore.
Thank you for your response.
Where was your shop?

i think it depends on what the tatoo is and where it is. I think that if you have a dotted line around your neck and it says cut here people are gonna look at you differently then if you have a tribal on your arm.

I have a tattoo of a sun and moon combined on the back of my right shoulder. I got it in germany while I was in the military. I loved the sun and moon motifs at the time. I don't care whether people have tattoos or not. All that matters to me is whether someone is kind and decent, not what they look like. I don't think people treat me any different but as of late, it really doesn't show.

I think it depends on how many you have and the age of the person looking at the tatoo. I also believe sadly people do judge a person if they think they have "quote" too many.

Thanks for your reply. The question is how many is too many.

i don't mind people with tatoos, i have one. they're just people only with wearable art. one of my friends has about fourteen tatoos. they are of all different kinds of things. do you think people should try to have a theme going - per say - if they have more than one.

I don't think there should be a theme to tattoos. Mine sort of do, but not really.

I have 5 tattoos that can be covered up if need be. My husband is covered with tattoos and he has been turned down for jobs becaue of the tattoos (even factory jobs!) and many times I have overheard people talking about him in the grocery store because of all of his tats. One time there was a man in there with his teenage son and the man was making nasty comments about my husband to his son and i was standing right behind them. I said, "you know, the next time you want to talk about people you should really make sure that their WIFE isnt standing right behind you!". People are way too judgmental. Tattoos dont make people "bad". Im a very caring and kind person, my tattoos dont change that, but they are just a part of ME and my personality! I used to work in an office and had a lot of people tell me that I changed their views on people who had tattoos and they learned not to judge someone by them.

I haven't had people talk about me yet, prolly cause yuo can't really see mine yet, but old friends give me looks and one even stopped talking to me.
It's great you changed people's views on tattoos. Thanks for the reply.

I got a tattoo on ma right side of ma arm. nd people dont treat me differently or even look at me differently when they see a tattoo on ma hand. I feel its only a fashion nd it vil also fade away when some new trend vil come out. Its just fashion.

Everyone likes my tattoos, a shark and a rose on my back! I had never given myself a birthday present before, so on my 40ieth birthday I gave myself tattoos...only thing I love to swim so I should have gotten them during colder weather, so I did not miss a few days of my lap swimming!

I have one. I got it because everyone said I was wild and crazy. Truly the most exciting thing I ever did was get that tattoo. Yeah people look at you different mostly religious people. They think you're so bad. I'm such a good girl it's sickening.

You can't really see mine, I have one over my heart, my daughter's name. And unless I am naked, you can't see it.
