My grandfather has always been my hero, and remains so even after his passing.
A World War II veteran, he kept me riveted as a child and young adult with true stories of his experiences overseas... But more than that he was a kind, loving and generous individual who always had time for me no matter how busy or preoccupied he might be.
I miss him so very much and think about him often.
(And by the way Rosie, you failed to mention who your own hero might be.)

Thanks for your response. Your Father sounds like a great person. As to my own - well - would have to be my late Mother - a woman who survived oppresion by both the Nazis and the Sovbeiets in her native Belarussia and yet was the kindest, most gentle, least bitter person I have ever met. Her quiet strength, her dignity and her unfailing humour, even through her final terminal illness was an inspiration to me. Thanks for asking me and thanks for your response.

My hero was my Dad. He was the greatest person I think I ever met and I also had the good fortune of home being my father, too! He was kind hearted, sweet, loved animals, and was good to everyone. He was also very generous, and set a great example for others. He is unfortunately not with us anymore. I guess God wanted him because he was too good for this earth!

That is a lovely post. Your Dad sounds like he was a wonderful man, and I know what you mean - like my Mother - it seems only the good die youmg, because they are too good for this earth.

My hero would be my father. His unselfishness, countless sacrifices, and immense love for his family is worthy of a medal. I'd be happy if I could emulate him even just a little. The great relationship I have with my wife and children I owe to my father's teachings. Even though I know I will never be as great a person as he is, I try to pass on to my children all the things he has taught me.
