I am now enrolled as MT. I am looking forward I can get through with this. MT gives many opportunities specially for stay at home mom like me. Isn't it? I have plan that after I graduated this course I will work as MT at home. Do you think this is worth paying job? Or I must apply first through company based before working independently at home? Please I need your help to decide for this. Thanks.

Medical transcription is not the only job for anyone who wants to get into transcription. I do transcriptions for a US based company called Civicom. If you'd like I can help you get in once you graduate. Or even now so can get the experience. But like most jobs you are also over worked and underpaid if you would base it on the difficulty of the work. But yes it's worth it. By the way I'm home-based. Civicom is home based transcription. I didn't have to work in an office.

I am not currently a medical transcriptionist, but I have thought about looking into it since I'm not sure what to do with my career. I am a military spouse, so it would be great if I could work from home cause of all the moving around! Good luck with your work!

I am an MT. Right now I am working in the office. I am planning to go homebase after 5 years or earlier if I think I am capable of doing this job alone at home, considering the overhead expenses that I have to think of. Getting into homebased like you was plan once I finished my course, but I realized it's easier said that done. Being homebase, you should be able to work independently and you should have at least 500 lines per day to cover your expenses. Most companies that hire HBTs won't pay for your electric bill, internet connection and technical expenses (PCs, headset, foot pedal and softwares). You must be able to transcribe at the same time edit your work. Unlike when you're office based if you're an MT, editing will no longer you responsibility. But homebased MTs earn more than office base. That is really what I am hoping for ever since. It's nice to work at home with my family. If you really is serious about this career, go ahead, go for it. Aim high. Good luck!
