My son watches the vews with us every evening. He is concerned with global warmining and he is only 10. He asked if the world was going to end. Although he knows about God and His plan for us, how do you handle this without totally freaking him out? What would you tell your child?

I would tell him that the world is in the hands of the young people of tomorrow. The decisions they will make in the future will decide if their world will be better than ours,They are the one who can change racisim and war and hatred. If we teach our children respect now for others then maybe that will carry them through tomorrow. This world can be a better place when they have control if they realize now and prepare their minds with education and listening to news, keeps them real and here in the now.I know it seems like a lot,but kids are asking and they need answers that they can think on.Life is not just fun and games and we have to teach our kids that they are the leaders of the country in the future. All over the world kids are growing into adults and what they live is what they will eventually give back to the world. If they grow up in violence then that's what they know.If they grow up in fairness and being allowed to take responsibility for their actions then thats what they will do.Children learn what they live, period.

I would just tell him that this is will not happen and things will be okay. The world will work together and make sure that this does not happen and there is nothing to worry about. I would watch something else with him so he does not continue to think that way plus the news over exaggerates on different issues.

I think you could explain to him, that its acording to predictions based on extrapolations that they tell global warming will become severe at certain point of time, and the world will end. But there are other possibilities too - that the predictions coudl be wrong, since they are not based on the true data, but extrapolated ones. Even if assuming it is true, there could very well be ways in which it can be controlled or it will be under natural control. overall the world will not end. if it had to end, why was it created?
