We are a nonspanking household and that works for us. I have had no problems with the timeout way we have been using for my oldest, butmy little one is a different story. She doesn't get it and really maybe too young for this concept, but I have to do something when she is just doing things she know she can not do. Does your timeout start. work for all your kids? How young is too young? What do you do for the timeout?

I was actually surprised that time outs work best for my youngest daughter who is 2 almost 3. She is a very rebellious child and I have had some major behavior issues with her in the past. The doctor recommended that I get the book 1-2-3 Magic and to follow it, which I did. Now when she is behaving badly I simply count her up to three and if the behavior continues she receives a timeout. My two older daughters recieve this method and it works for them also.

I'll have to find this book. It sounds like a good one.

I never thought it would work with our daughter but it does. Whenever she throws a temper tantrum, she's sent to bed for 5-10 minutes and usually behaves after that.
