What is Quality Content?

I think we need to figure out some ground rules here for this new category if we are going to make it work. Otherwise people may not "know" if their question is of high enough caliper to post here versus the general discussion section(s).
How is this category TO BE USED & how is it NOT TO BE USED?

I'm glad this catagory was started because to be frank I get really tired of sifting through a zillion silly topics like What is your favorite color? (unless it is a test) just to find something worth reading and responding to as well. Not only do I prefer quality for posting but I read a lot here and I prefer reading quality answers. My intentions is if someone posts a non quality topic here I will give it a negative mark. Since we can't make any rules about it that is the only way I can think of to discourge anyone from just posting any old thing here.

I also just do not respond to non-quality discussions. That way they do not get any more airtime than necessary.
Of course, my little lack of response will not have any effect on the overall level of quality here. But if enough people do that, it will hopefully encourage better quality discussions to get started in the first place.

I agree with a lot of the comments already made to this discussion. There is NO way that we can control who does and does not post in a particular category, and who is a member of it. Although this appears to be a safe haven for the moment, it is inevitable that the same thing will happen here, as in every other interest. I also think that the quality of ones discussions, posts and content in general is subjective. A base standard of acceptable is anything that complies with mylots guidelines imo, which lets face it, most peoples posts dont. I dont have a problem with people using mylot to self promote or increase their online earnings, and generate new contacts as oldbuddy does, some people do. I dont have a problem with any discussion that is simply that... a discussion, on the other hand I do no enjoy reading or responding to statements, that leave nothing open for interpretation nor discussion. Thats just the way I feel. I dont think there is any need to have a set structure of rules. I feel that the quality members post quality content, even though I dont think the star rating system is a good indication of ones ability nor history as it is too easily abused (yes I keep repeating myself as that is how i feel). Copya nd paste is not acceptable unless it is a small excerpt, accompanied by a source, used to reiterate a point one is making in a discussion. Okay thats my two cents, take it easy guys... ;)

You know that you are reading quality content when you find yourself immediately responding without thinking of how it will benefit you.
I would say "quality post" or "quality content" means writing something that:
- others will want to read
- others will comment on because they WANT to comment (not because they just are trying to "up" their count or ranking)

I agree that mylot should consider having some kind of filter for quality content. Today, I felt I have wasted much time on the internet because I could hardly find many quality discussions to read.
Maybe, some groupings of topics would help. Then members can actually post their discussions under those headings.
Still, there must be a better and more effective way of weeding out nonsensical posts. Anyone has better ideas?

I would like to be able to see a list of potential cheaters so we could avoid their discussions
