I've read in a medical health book that children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder may have difficulty in school because their symptoms-inattention, impulsiveness, and hyperactivity-get in the way of learning.
Success in school is importantant for the development of healthy self-esteem and confidence.
Key points:
You can help your child succeed in school by working with teachers and other school personnel. Educating yourself about ADHD. Helping your child control his or her symptoms.
Hope this be of help.

There are many ways to deal with children, ADD/ADHD or not. It depends on the child and the family. We chose a non medication behavioral approach to working with our son because we were alarmed by the side effects of the medications.
We used the Caregivers' Skills Program in Unraveling the ADD/ADHD Fiasco by Dr. David B. Stein. We used this program about 6 years ago and it worked well with our son. I have to disclose that I am now the web manager for http://www.drdavestein.com, but I have been doing that for almost 3 months, we used his program way before I ever met him!
