Should I Eat if I am Not Hungry???

My daughter's doctor said that toddlers will eat only when they're hungry, and their bodies seem to "know" how much and what they need to function best. I've always wondered when we switched from that to needing to eat 4-6 times per day for our metabolism. Guess our bodies do change that much as we get older. I would say, yes, eat a small something to keep your metabolism in check, or drink a protein shake instead. That way you're still getting the nutrients your body needs.

Yes you should try to eat a little something with lots of protein in the mornings. I bought those "Oatmeal to go" bars, they are YUMMY and they are easy to just throw in your purse and go. Gives you fiber and protein without having to mess up a bunch of dishes for bacon and eggs toast and milk etc....
It gives you the energy you need in the mornings and helps to keep your metabolism iin good working order.

I have been on a diet that stresses eating planned meals even if you aren't hungry. You need to fuel the furnace to keep it running. Your metabolism runs the same way. The meals on the diet I am on seem huge. I cannot eat all of it, so I make smaller portions. This helps.

I have been trying out those shakes in the morning. It's called Ensure and they use them in our little hospital in out area. I found a butter pecan flavour and its not bad ice cold.
I ate eggs benedict on Sunday, but that was around brunch time. It was good!

Well, they say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I get along fine without it, but someone posted a list of why breakfast is important on here about half a week to a week ago and it really opened my eyes about why people say that it is the most important meal of the day.
On the one hand, it seems like one should not eat if one really truly isn't hungry. I don't know anything about the mechanisms of metaoblism, so I can't help on that side of things. *laugh* I would personally be happy to not be hungry or feel like eating, since I've gained back a good 5 pounds or more just in this last month due to sitting around at home more and being around tempting foods. Gah! *laugh* I think that if I were not hungry and/or bored, it would be so much easier not to eat.
I'm not sure that I've really answered your question, but I think that it would be okay sometimes not to eat as long as you truly aren't starving yourself and you aren't hungry! ^_^ Or perhaps, just eat a small meal. ^_^

I sometimes do not feel like eating in the morning but I find that is because I've had a cheese sandwich or something at supper the night before but I always try to eat at least a bowl of cereal and a glass of fruit juice at breakfast.
But then I'm a large lump weighing in at around 15 stone (210 lbs)!!

I can handle that burger on my own by supper time. I think it has to with calving season. We all take turns checking cows every 3 hours. I think my timing must be off.
My husband says I don't need to take a turn, but that's ranch life. I've always been present for calving and I keep doing it untill I get too old

its usually a good i dea to have breakfast no matter what, because it will keep you going all day usually, only then you should top up, if you feel hungry.
when your not hungry and you eat the weight starts gaining if you dont work off the extras. in all honesty you should keep to the recommended amount of calories and other things reccomended a day, that way extra food your body isnt asking for wont build up.
thats why many people are getting large. they eat when they are not hungry and dont excersise. if you have a slow metabolism that makes it worse.
but yeah, try to eat when you are hungry, that way you can enjoy the food better. thats how i feel about it. recently because of a few decisions ive had to make ive been eating just for the sake of eating, and worrying, but im not enjoying the food.
once i was reaaally hungry and my mum was out for a fe whours and she said she would bring back a mcdonalds (not the best choices of foods, but i didnt care i was so hungry) and it was a treat for me, and i was looking forward to eating so much it seemed liek years before she came back with my chicken burger! :D but i enjoyed eating it!

Not at all.I don't eat when I'm not hungry.Why do I when everyone wants to be slim.I also don't want to be fat and bulky.

You should have a bit of something. I always have a couple of pieces of toast and then a glass of milk. That helps me not to eat such a large lunch! Keep your eating at a balanced level and you should do fine! A piece of fruit is suggested at a minimum!

I think you should take regular things like breakfast, lunch and dinner, though you don't feel hungry. Because you are not hungry, you can take less amount but you should take. If you start skeeping breakfast or lunch it may harm your disesting sytem more.

Well I have the same problem. I am never hungry when I first get up. I usually don't eat for many hours, sometimes 4 or 5.
My doctor says it is very important to your metabolism to eat regularly. He says you should eat something every 4 hours, not a big meal but small meals and snacks keep your metabolism going strong.
I still can't eat in the morning, I don't care how good it is for you. I would be sick if I did. Hope this helps.

I think you should definitely eat anyway, even if it is only something small. The less you eat, the more your stomach shrinks so the less you will be hungry. But irregardless the most important meal of the day is breakfast. It's where you get your energy from to make it through the day. It is very important not to skip this meal. I don't know if if will slow your metabolism down, but I would think yes because you won't have any energy to do anything.

I suggest just having something small like a slice of toast, a piece of fruit or a youghurt. I eat breakfast every morning even if its just a small bowl of cereal or something, purely because i feel more awake once ive had something to eat. You do hear a lot about the importance of breakfast, but they usually say that it will cause you to snack mid morning and make unhealthy choices like a chocolate bar, but as you say you havn't been feeling hungry then either.
