Does your cat train you?

Everytime my Columbus approaches me as I'm eating and meows, I feel guilty and open yet another can of Friskies for him, usually his favorite turkey and giblets. It's almost like he's got me trained, lol!
And every morning, my Waffles and Columbus sit on my bed quietly until they hear me stir and yawn. Then they walk up really close and begin to purr. Once I've pet them, they both jump off the bed and walk to the kitchen. They "know" that once I get out of bed, I will feed them breakfast, first thing. I don't mind this at all, but feel as though my cats have trained me well.
Are you having similar experiences with your cat(s)? And do you think that cats are a lot smarter than they get credit for? (I happen to think that they are. Plus, they are smarter than dogs.)

My cat learned a long time ago that he eats on a schedule and, if he tries to convince me it's time for him to eat I just ignore him.

I do believe cats train us and they are a lot smarter than we give them credit for, at least some of them are. I have 5 cats each with their own little thing.
I have one cat who when I give them soft food, doesn't like it when it gets flat and waits for me to spoon it up. I never really figured out how I started doing this.
I have another cat who will do things he knows he's not supposed to do just to get attention. Also, he's very stubborn to get his own way and will continue to do whatever it is until he wears us down.
One of my newer cats (picked her up as a stray in May) will use her paw to pat me on my leg when she wants to be pet and will continue until she's had enough.

You know I have to agree with you. Cats train us as much as we train them. I have 2 kittens and they have metrained to give them attention when I am in the bathroom of all places. LOL yes it is funny and I laugh every time. I guess that is the only time they feelthey can get me alone.

Oh, I definitely think most animals are much smarter than we give them credit for...it just may be a different sort of intelligence than we are used to. My two cats will beg for food any time of the day; the bigger of the two will follow us around wherever we go in the house if he thinks there's a chance we might be heading for the cat food container. They both wake my parents up in the morning, wanting food, and if my parents happen to be gone, the smaller of the two will usually scratch at the door of whoever's watching the house.
