What are your favorite books or resources? Do you have favorite websites or other sources of inspiration? I *love* modular knitting! If I had to pick a favorite book on the subject, it would probably be Dazzling Knits by Patricia Werner. Let's here from anyone else who likes the technique - or anyone who wants to learn! ~Sara

I never could quite get the hang of modular knitting. I mean, what's the point of knitting all those pieces, then having to join them? Or am I missing something!? (Wouldn't be the first time) :)

Much of modular knitting *doesn't* involve joining. You knit each additional square (or whatever) onto the last one, either by picking up stitches, or by short rows and decreasing. Does that make any more sense? ~Sara

Yes, that makes more sense. I did a log cabin blanket one time where you turned each strip, picked up along the side like for a sock gusset and knitted from there. Is that the way it works? Guess I need to go check it out! Thanks. :)

villageanne, Modular knitting is basically creating your project piece-by-piece. Start by completing one square, shell, or whatever and then build on that. There are a couple of "shcools" on how it's done - some involve picking up stitches as you knit and some don't. If you search at amazon.com for "modular knitting", you'll get a number of books on the topic, many with images that will give you some ideas of what it looks like! ~Sara
