What Does your Star Rating Means TO YOU?

We all have different star rating. Some don't care about their star rating while the others are really concern. How about you? How do you feel about it? Does it concern you? What does it means to you?
As for me, I really feel good about my star rating. I only have few points 120+ when I got the rating of 9. It means a lot to me. I don't feel good knowing that I cannnot get enough replies on my discussions which some of them I consider good ones. But because of this star rating, I'm starting to feel good about myself. It somehow means that what I'm typing here are not trash. But it is sensible enough and somehow with quality. And its a challenge for me now to retain that kind of rating or to make it higher.
How about you? What does your star rating means to you?

Don't you think it would be better (validity and aesthetics) if the INDIVIDUAL answers were rated ,rather than USERS ?? The current star-system is a little biased :
proof: once you get ten you never go back down then .()
.Users who already have a 10 star rating tend to illicit more + rating from other users .(There's a saying in Italian about this phenomenon: "piove sempre sul bagnato !" = it always rains on people who are already wet !)
.even the percentage (over 100) makes this more like a school-assignment rather than a forum for OPINIONS ,it doesn't show a lot about the actual INTERACTION , it just shows if a user posts a lot .

The score on your star is your reputation. If you have a low score it means that people either aren't rating your commenst, or they're downrating them. If your discussions aren't interesting enough for people to respond to, or you write a lot of useless or one-line responses, that all affects how people will rate you. The score is something to learn from, not ignore. It's more important, in some ways, than the number of your posts.

Wow congratz to you for being a 9 star. I just reached my 100th post and i have gotten a 7. I am already feeling good as i could see my ratings now. I feel that it will reflect upon our esteem level as sometimes when we posts, though we feel its of quality, but when it doesn't show the results we desire, we get discouraged. I am glad that you are loving your ratings. I am going aimming for a 9 as well.
Looking foward to hit my 120th posting with quality. All the best in our MyLot venture.

i feel the same way I'm excited about my star it really lets you know that you are doing something positive and it really makes you want to try harder to be the best you can.

it means to me but not that much. it doesnt mean that because a person has low star rating he is not making good discussions or responses. some users just really dont like rating responses and some give negative ratings because your ideas dont coincide with theirs. so its not really a big deal for me.

You must be doing something right! It must have something to do with the quality of posts we write combined with the quality of the discussions we begin. But, I'm sure that mylot.com does not want us to figure it out, so people cannot abuse the system.

I like to see CHANGES in it . I mean when I know I put some effort into the answers , I like to see the rating go up . However (this might seem strange) SOMETIMES I find discussions on certain topics where my opinion is usually VERY different , bordering on offensive , but I feel I have to say what's on my mind , so I look forward to seeing what effect THAT had on my rating . I hope I don't write trash !

It means I make more money! I'm pretty sure your earnings are higher if you have a better star rating. So it's an incentive to keep giving good responses to keep the rating high. And it's a good reinforcement that others value your input.

i have no idea how they even give you a rating! i respond to as many as i can and start good discussions, but i think im only an 8. i don't even see my number after my name go up after responding, and they are usually quite a few worth sentences.
