Do you think the French are rude?

Japanese tourists who visit Paris get their romantic notions of the city shattered. Some of these Japs had to be repratriated back to Japan after experiencing some horrible treatment from the French. Accdg to the Japanese embassy, these Japs suffered from the "Paris syndrome". Those who suffered from this vow never to come back to Paris. Now my questions is, are the French really rude?
