Coca Cola, clearly, is intent on rewarding people for DRINKING Coca Cola--NOT collecting codes.
You don't have to have a problem with it. But I do, as is my right.
I am not looking forward to headlines of "13 year old died this weekend from Hyponatremia and kidney failure. The parents are devestated and don't know what happened. They claim their child has always been very healthy and said she was so excited about going to Hollywood in February to become a Movie Star. She had been working really hard to make her dream come true; she wasn't taking acting classes but rather determined to win Coca Cola's "Drink your way to Movie Stardom" prize and she was drinking as much Diet Coke as she could. Last week, after only 2 days of drinking 97 Cokes a day, she started to get nausea, vomiting, had a headache and general malaise. We thought it was her cycle. Then, she got very confused sort of in a stuper and then she went into a coma, from which she never woke and passed on 2 days later."
Sure hope we never read that, but it is more likely than not that we will, after all, show me a teenage girl who doesn't want to "Sing like an Idol" or be a "Movie Star" and if all it took were to drink enough great tasting soft drinks to do it, most wouldn't think twice.
Oh, and in the fine print, you can enter the contest at 13 without a parent's permission, but you have to click a button that says you agree to have read the rules; and the rules say you have to be 18 to win the "good" prizes.
I have teens, and I know they would click that button and fly by the rules never reading them. Heck, reading instructions on the finals or things like the ACT that means something to their lives takes too much time and they jump into the test!
But yes, I guess they don't have to drink to win. But Coke doesn't have to advertise that they DO, do they?" Julia
Where do YOU stand on the matter!? I have let Coca Cola know of my intention to sue, not only them but all of the companies offering the higher value prizes unless the prize redemption points are lowered to less than toxic levels.
David fighting Goliath. I hope you are cheering for me.
