Do you remember the first time you used internet? I think I was in 8th grade and my teacher had us use a search engine. I remember being so amazing. Now it is just such a huge part of my life that it is hard to remember life without it.

I started using the internet just three years ago and so I am already old to know and learn how to use the internet. I am now 61 years old and perhaps one of the oldies in the net LOL!

Nop, I don't remember my first access to internet but I should be about 9 or 10 years old. I just connected to download some flash games so I could keep on playing them offline then.

Yes, I do! I was in maybe sixth grade when I got my first computer. It came with a free trial of Prodigy (anyone else remember them?) so of course we had to give that a try. I got on and found some games and got hooked! I think the game I used to play was called Tomb Hunter or something like that. It was basically minesweeper with Indiana Jones style graphics. I used to love that game! Of course, at the time we paid for the internet by the hour (can you imagine?) so I was only allowed to be on there for an hour a day, unless it was for school work. I remember begging my parents to just let me play a little longer...

Hey BlogYourSelf I do remember and was a computer instructor at the time. I created my own course material and manuals. It was a blast and I loved learning and found I loved to teach also. When the Internet became available in our area I was all over and created a course and was teaching it in less than a month. And that was before we had web browsers, so shortly after that when web broswers instead of unix commands I was so busy I worked night and day teaching for months probably was even a couple of years before it started to even out. I made a lot of money and loved every minute of it. There is so much potential available to us online for knowledge and income.

as i remember, i used the internet when i was in second year high school, and i was using yahoo to search for a very very long research about the presidents of our country. i was so puzzled and then amazed on how easy and reliable internet was then. i was also amazed when i learned how to chat and i then got addicted chatting with my friends through the internet.

I don't remember the exact year, I believe it was 1995. My father is a softwere engineer and computer programmer so I have begun to use PC when Windows doesn't exist but DOS. I've tried internet for the first time at the job of my father.. I've start to use it at home in 1997.

Yes, I remember. I think I was a freshman in high school back then. And the internet connection I used is like so slow and is dial-up. I think it was a funny memory. It was like, back then I was like my browser can just load 10 pages an hour. But now with my broadband, it is like lightning fast.

I don't remember the actual first time that I used the internet, but I do remember being online before the internet as we know it today existed. Back when you could dial up to local bulletin boards and chat with people in your city. That was a lot of fun, but there really wasn't that much to do. You could either chat, read posts on forums kind of like this one, or play simple little games. There wasn't that much info, there were no search engines, etc. But it was still pretty exciting, back then, just to be able to get online at all! *laugh* ^_^

For me, there were two first times...My first time with sighted assistance was in 1993. A friend of mine had Prodigy, and for our Spanish class, we had to get current events articles every week and write summaries on them, and they had to be about Spanish-speaking countries. That was my sophomore year of high school. In 1997, my sophomoe year of college, I first used the Internet on my own, via a "freeNet" provider in Arizona called AZTec; it was run by ASU...You could access email, you could get on the web with the Lynx browser (anyone remember that?), and you could access newsgroups, and for message boards, they had SIG's (SPecial Interest Groups). Internet Explorer was finally made accessible to blind users about a year later, so in 1998, I searched Yahoo for the first time. :)
