As Spanish and Italian are not my native language I keep their dictionaries close to me, I use this website a lot: www.wordreference.com to look up words that I don't know. Regards, Pablo

Whenever I come across a new word, which is not known to me, I look for its meaning. On the subject, when we speak/write we do not bother about the 'diction'(way of prouncing varies country to country). I think most of us use the 'book' only for meanings. Then, should it not be called 'meaningary' instead of 'dictionary'?. -va-

I only use a dictionary when I am curious about a word or need to confirm the spelling. Typically I use online dictionaries now. Maybe 5 times per month.

Yes it will be a good idea to have one close just in case we encounter words we are not sure what the meanings are or we might want to use a word and want to be sure that the meaning is what we assume it is. Good idea. I am thinking of having one myself too.

i keep mine close to me all the time! i can understand you, english is not the primary language in the philippines, and there are times that we just cant comprehend what the person is saying, whether its in a book or a forum, because they are using rather deep or unknown words to us. but at least we are trying, this is an international forum after all, and if we cant understand english then we wont be able to enjoy ourselves here.

usually, during my high school days, i usually bring with me dictionary or thesaurus.....im an addict to reading novels...since im fresh from my elementary days, my vocabulary is not that wide yet...so what i did was when i am reading a novel, all those words that i could not understand will be underlined and looked into the dictionary....but now that i am a professional already......though there are still words that i can't understand..but then, i usually use contextual clues technique already..since i don't bring with me any dictionary anymore...good for me if im in front of the computer that i can always search for the meaning of the word...

I don't use it many times but it's very useful when I don't know the meaning of certain expressions I read or hear people saying, so since my first language is not english I think it's normal that I have doubts sometimes.

I use the dictionary very often. My dictionary is always beside my bed, i.e my reading place. So I pick it up whenever i need it.

I don't use it as much as I should. but, I like to read so I keep on handy. Maybe a couple of times a week I use it for spelling also because my spelling is so bad. I also use the computer- thank god for spell check.
