Grandparents

I am new to grandparenting and I wonder about the pros and cons of getting attached. You see, I can only see my grandkids on holidays because the father has dissociative disorder and he feels I am some kind of threat? He had a maniac episode and he is not on meds. Any input?

Be there for the children. They may need you as a stable influence in the future. Try to be kind to him, but I know how hard it is.

birthlady, it is the hardest thing I have had to witness in a long while (the maniac fit) and I have put distance between him and I. My daughter says "I was not there he he he." AAAAGGGHHHHH! Everyone has told her that I will not lie about a subject. He is a conartist and liar and abuser and looser.
