Is pessimism bad?

So many people I am around are happy, full of energy, but then there is one who is a pessimist that many assumes is feeding negative energy to everyone else. I am not sure this is true. I almost think pessimist see what we don't want to see and that is the truth. Are you a pessimist? Do you see yourself offering something of good?
