There are a lot of issues in different companies and one of it is nepotism. I encountered a case study of of NCC during the time when I was still studying. The company are facing many problems that there system has went wrong. Workers work 7days a week, they cook food inside the work area, and promotions of workers are slow. Being a subordinate isn't easy especially when the firm itself or the boss is unethical. You need a courage to face what is ethical and unethical that you may need to see what's right and what's wrong and what you are ought to do. If I will be promoted, I want it be the reason that I am deserving base on my performance.

well, with regards to promotion, i ahve never encountered someone being promoted because he was closer to the boss. Although the right thing should be because he is capable for the job and knows how to handle such responsibilities. What counts anyway is what is good for the company and not because he she likes a person.

It ideally depends on the evaluations done by the supervisor or officer in charge. Top management placed these people to monitor the performance of their subordinates, and they are given the power to recommend promotion, demotion, or lateral transfer.
Once the supervisor gets biased in his or her opinion, an employee may get promoted or terminated.
God bless all employees that they may be placed under the supervision of fair and just superiors.

i think it works both ways. i do however lean more towards the employees being a superiors pet. ive seen it happen all to many times. ive seen people more then enough qualified for a job but yet they dont get it and instead the job be given to what i would call butt kissers. its not right. the butt kissers that get the job hardly knows anything about the job, while other work their butt off to get where they are and then get over picked. its crazy

Yes, I was a victim to nepotism I had given the company I worked for at the time 110%, I did over-time worked my butt off for them, a job came up which I was qualified for and it meant relocation which I wanted at the time, there were good perks that went with the job, this girl who had only been in the company five minutes was sha**ing the boss, she applied and got the job over me!

What a good questions. I think my answer is it depends in the company, it depends to their ethics. Employee is promoted is because of their abilities not one of the superior's pet that i was encountered on my previous company even the prisident too. Therefore my answer is it depends on the system of the company!

i still believe it is still based on performance, capabilities, abilities, skills shown by the person. i became a technical support from being a data encoder because of these but i've resigned already. the thing about this is that once you got promoted, higher performance and more expectations will be expected from you. so don't worry if a superior's pet got promoted, one day, that "pet" will be demoted or be replace on the basis of performance and abilities shown. God bless.

In business there are 2 types of people. The favorite employee and the employee who actually does the work! Throughout my entire lifetime of working I've encountered numerous of occasions where this type of attitude is displayed. The ones being promoted are either relatives or close friends of the bosses.
