Making Money Online

Why is it that so many people expect to earn a fortune from sites like this and other get paid to type things, then complain when they realise they're only getting a very small amount or decide that they deserve more money for the minimal effort they are putting in? Yet when they are offered genuine, honest ways to make a decent income online they discard it as soon as they realise they actually have to put in a little time and effort and it requires more than just a click of the mouse button? so once again join a get paid to type thing in the hopes that that will be the one that pays off for them?
Don't get me wrong, sites like myLot etc are a great way to earn a little extra pocket money, particularly if, like me, you enjoy talking with others and do it for free anyway, but that's all it's ever going to be: a little extra pocket money.
Maybe I'm just very naive but I guess I'm a big believer that if you really want to earn some decent money you will actually have to do some work for it (at least until you have your business up and running properly - after that it becomes a little more automatic).
I guess I've also discovered that I'd rather earn a few dollars for one visit to my website than $0.00006 for spending 5 hours surfing different sites. It maybe easier to surf, but creating my own site is much more fun :-)

Yes, I agree you do have to put time and effort and work into everything you do if you want to see a good return on anything. I have been at mylot for a few days now and I really like it here. Mylot is a funa and easy way to earn and to meet people. Im very pleased so far with the outcome of friends and earnings. I think also you have to put in what you expect to receive in return. thanks for listening. You make a good point though.

Yes I totally agree with you there
I wonder the Same when I read People complaining that mylot does not pay enough and that they should pay us for this that and everything else I am happy with what I get paid here as you say it is Pocket money not a job to ear an income it is a fun Site where you talk to People make Friends

It is always best to have your own website and if that site generates revenues it is still better. So far as MyLot is concerned, people with very high activity and good number of active referrals appear to earn more than those who spend just half an hour here for making few posts. If you can post and promote, I think, it is not that impossible to pay your bills or EMIs by earning money from myLot. So far as I'm concerned I share my attention in between PTP forums and my own websites. It works fine.

That's probably the best way to do it, and it means you haven't got all your eggs in one basket so if something does fail you still have a backup. While I spend the majority of my online time messing around with my own sites, I tend to pop in here when I'm ready for a break :-).

LOL - glad I'm not the only one who starts thinking she's only going to post a small comment and then ends up with several paragraphs :-) And you're right in regards to referrals - it could make a big difference. I don't have any, but part of that I think is that I look at this site as more of a way to have a bit of fun and downtime, along with often learning something new than actually as a source of income (don't get me wrong - I like the fact I get paid for it - but it's not the main reason I'm here)

I agree with this. I also spend most of my time working on my own websites and stop by here on occasion to see whats going on. Theres always something interesting to comment on. I wish I had 20 or 30 active referals though lol. It could potentially turn into a very nice amount of pocket change. Think about it I'm going off of extremely optimisitic stats. Say you refer 30 people and they all earn a dollar a day, you just earned 7.50, now add in the buck you earned for all your hardwork, you've now earned 8.50. If you were too do this every day you would get about 255 a month. This here is already enough to invest in other online money making opportunities, a website, or just use it as pocket change. I honestly feel it is possible to go from having nothing to making a living off the net.
I should have posted this in response to the main point, as I got a little off topic as I was writing this post. It originally was only going to be a 1 or 2 line post. Anyway sorry if this doesn't fit in with where it ended up getting posted.

I dont expect anything and i am not so naive to think i can get something for nothing, i know in order to earn a return from anything you have to be willing to put in the time and hard work, i joined my lot because i love to write, the fact that i can earn a few extra dollars from doing something i love is just an added bonus

And that pretty much sums up the way I look at it :-) I've read some really interesting discussions here and have learnt many new things. And like you I love writing (though I do have a habit of rambling one sometimes :-) ) so it's the best of both worlds.

There are MANY ways indeed to make that little extra money online or make a lot for that matter. But the question we have to ask ourselves is.. "Are we doing it for purely money?"
I personally am not really interested in my earnings here in MyLot cause there are ways I make much more and faster too. But the main reason I am here is because I like the discussions and read up on issues and things I am passionate about.
In regards to Blogs or creating your own site.. this same rule applies as well. It must be about something of interest to you or your readers would never come back to visit.

Well, I think that people are "believers" in that sense. People seem to believe that there is some magic website out there that you can make tons of money from. The fact of the matter is, that isn't true. The most you'll make is five dollars here or there. I have yet to find one site that will replace a full-time job.

I often think that's the problem though. People are basically expecting one site/program to do it for them - in other words if they join something that program will do it all for them - rather than taking the time to do it for themselves by taking some initiative and putting the time in to set their own site or program up. Does that make sense?

You have a different perspective of things. I dont think its just pocket money you can earn. Go to this site and try the steps yourself. Indeed you will have to do some work, but usually its not that hard and as you said its fun.

Setting up your own sites and earning income from them I don't consider as pocket money, you can make a very good income from that, providing you do it right :-) - I was referring more to the ptp type sites where you need to spend hours a day for a couple of cents.

The reason that a lot of people are so interested is because they are either stay at home parents, home bound, or want to get out of that day job. I work for Associated Content and they pay me just like a regular job but I don't plan on getting rich off of it.

i don't expect to earn a fortune from mylot anyway because i think that could be impossible, if i wanted to earn a fortune for online work, i would go about getting a full time online job what i have to work hard for! :)

People want something for nothing. It seems to be human nature. There are those who are willing to work hard for thier money, I know a few. All my life I have worked hard. Now, after my injuries, I WISH I could work hard. Thankfully, I have a hard working spouse and I do what I can. I wish more people were hard workers without the fussiness.

I agree with that - I've always worked hard and it's something I'm trying to make sure my kids understand as well. Havng said that though, I'm hoping it won't be much longer before what I do online builds up enough so that I can cut down on my offline job a little to give me more time to spend with my kids.

Hey you make a very good point! I like making money from this website, it's not too bad! I don't spend TOO much time on it, and I've made about a dollar every day since I've joined! =D I have a question for you though.. how do you make a few dollars for making a website? That sounds really cool!!

I am new to this site, but I think that the problem is that if all what you want from this site is money, then you may be dissappointed. But if you are really interested in learning new ideas and talking with many people (and forget for a while about the money), then you'll find myLot to be a great site. People should think of it as any other ordinary site or forum but with a few dollars as a bonus each month for your contribution.

I think that just about sums it up :-) For me I see too many people that come here and quickly realise that they are not going to get rich so instead of taking the time to understand everything else it has to offer start complaining or expecting an increase in the payment they receive.

I totally agree with you that most of the web surfer will find earning money slow but they have not think of all this are all F.O.C and they do not have to dig ouyt a single cent. So if you want to earn money, just go to the society and get a proper job

I agree with you - If you make a website about somthing that is your hobby or somthing you like doing - Then sell to that niche market - that is where you can make some good money. Other that that you just get paid pennys for promoting other peoples website - Its good for them but does not make us much money.

good one buddy.as you said everyone must go through at least some hard work to get something extra.if people called mylotting as work then they i dont understand any easier way of making a few extra bucks.i would rather spend my time here and enjoy talking with others and posting than go to multiple websites only with the sole purpose of making money.

I think you're right, this kind of sites the earnings are very small, if we want to make more money we have to work for it, i'm talking about real work or have some lucky and try to bet online..
