I think we have a big mess with this war and I really don't know how I feel about it anymore. If we pull out we will look weak and risk future attacks as a result of what has already happened. On the other hand if we stay more innocent people and soldiers get killed and it is not nearly over. I'm really confused on how I should feel at this point. What is your opinion and please explain your answer. I know this is mylot and people want to get paid but this is a serious issue so please put some thought into this question and respond with an intelligent answer. Thanks.

definitely you should pull out of war. it is not just to kill innocent iraqis in the name of war on terror.it would not weaken you anyway by pulling out.i love peace and what america did in iraq is just the opposite.

People tend to forget that it's the extremist iraqi's who are killing the innocent iraqi's. Once we pull out more innocent iraqi's will die as different extremist factions try to take over.

War in Iraq is a global disaster whether Bush believe this or not. The greatest mistake has been made ie starting the war all without the Un approval. If the UN is behind this war, it would have been concludedd ever since.
However, USA pulling out of Iraq now is not better option now taking into acoount of all the factor that fuel the war now. This is worst option but the relatively better one is to deploy more troop and quench the insurgence wire force. One the country stabilise then the USA can withdraw.

Unfortunately the UN wouldn't get involved because of France and Germany. They had underhanded deals with Iraq/Saddam so they would never had agreed to go to war. I too think we shouldn't leave until the country is stabilized.

You make all of the obvious points. If we pull out we look weak and if we stay more people die. Well my feeling is we should stay and finsih the job. However, that does not mean until every bad guy in Iraq is gone, because that will never happen. We do need to give the Iraqis the equipment and training that we promised them and slowly start turning control of each city over to the Iraqis while we start pulling our troops home. It will probably take a couple of more years but we are making progress in that area. I imagine we will continue to have "Advisors" there for years to come but not as fighting troops. There is one thing I would like to make clear for anyone reading this. I spent a year in Iraq in 2003/2004. My job consisted of managing 8 camps populated by an American contractor. I had 260 Iraqis working for me. Every one of them was happy that we were there and happy that Saddam was gone. They appreciated what we were doing and the progress we were making. They just want the same things that we do; safety for their families, a place to live in peace and work. If we leave Iraq too soon then we are basically inviting the terrorists to come back here. There will always be wars and one way or another the United States will always be involved. I'd prefer that the fighting took place "over there" rather than here on on shores.

I feel the same way about wether or not to send more troops or just bring them home. I believe there is more strength in numbers. If they were to leave what would happen to the people of Iraq? "If" its possible to get this over with then go in full force and end it. We should not have gone in there under the pretense of finding weapons of mass destruction but to end sadams reign of terror. If the troops come home are they going to be stationed all over the states to protect us here at home?

You should run for president. I feel that if they knew how many soldiers we had they would give up easier. The iraqi population is not even close to Americas

They should pull out their army from there.Unless until they move out of that country there will be a lot of people dieing. They have to face the consequences for what they have did.It doesn't means that we look weak.

I am like you. I don't know why we are still there and now more military members are going. Why can't they build their own military to protect their country? What are we gaining by being there? We have our own country to protect. We are losing more innocent people because we have to have sympathy on them. We have to be moral about the whole situation. Why can't we find the people who are causing this war get rid of them and be done? I don't want innocent people to die but I truly feel being from a military family that we should take drastic measures now. Stop waiting and start putting our weapons into action. My future son in law is in Irag right now and I pray to God he makes it home for the wedding in October.

For me this is a hard thing to answer. After Sept 11th, I was all on board to go to war and then a year or two into it, I wanted us to get out. If we stay or get out of Iraq, there is going to be a risk of it failing or succeeding. I don't think we can just leave and expect the Iraqis to take over. When you don't know what democracy is and the freedoms that come with it, it is hard to switch gears. On the other hand, we shouldn't go into a country and tell them what to do and I feel we pushed democracy on them. Countries in the Middle East like Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Egypt should help assist them in rebuilding their nation whether it is through financial support, sending over advisers or military. They should work on building a strong Middle East. We should be pushing for those countries to get involved. Once that happens, we should plan our exit with as few losses as possible.

Hi
OK
Let us take your last MAJOR Conflict that you participated in, and that was Vietnam.
To start off with, it was just an “Incursion” then it turned into a full War, without actually DECLARING War on the North Vietnamese.
Slowly, but surely, you got sucked into something that you could not win. The French tried it, and various other Nations tried it when it was called “Indo-China”
The Politicians tried to run the Vietnam War from Washington!
This does not work!!
Soldiers and Generals know what is happening (or at least in general they do) and it should be for the “Boys on the Ground” who call the shots!
Especially if it is a War situation!
The “Peace Movement” took control, and the “Troops Out” movement!
The Politicians “lost it” and when your Marines were coming home, thinking that they were Heroes, they were treated like “Scum”
Now………
That is no way to treat soldiers, who have been in a war situation, whether or not the War is supported by the people back home!
The Press and Media got involved, and all of a sudden, it was “Get Out Of Vietnam” by hook or by crook!!
BIG MISTAKE!!!!!
YOU HAVE NEVER FORGOTTEN IT!!!
NOW…………….
Take the British in The Falklands Campaign
The Argentineans invaded the Islands, we were in our right to go and take them back!
EIGHT THOUSAND MILES AWAY but they are, legally, our islands!!
Public Opinion swayed back and forth, especially when there were horrific pictures or Soldiers and Sailors being burned from bombs, etc etc
But when the public realized that we were WINNING it was not too much of a problem anymore!!
NOW………………
Lets take IRAQ
To start off with, the public believed George W and Tony Blair!!!
As the War was started we BELIEVED that it was legal, personally I still do!
We KNEW we were going to WIN.
The Americans and British together, I am sorry, but it is IMPOSSIBLE to beat us!!!
FACT!!
Sad maybe but TRUE!
The Americans were given North Iraq, Bagdad etc, and the Brits were given the South, Basra etc etc
The Brits have managed, to a degree, to “win the hearts and minds” of the Iraqi people.
ESSENTIAL!!!
In a lot of the places in Basra, our soldiers no longer wear the “tin hat” but they wear their “Berets”
Yes they still have their rifles, etc, etc but they no longer LOOK LIKE THEY ARE AT WAR WITH THE IRAQI PEOPLE!!!!!
You have the hardest task out of the two Countries!!
Baghdad is a Nest of Insurgents and Bad Guys!!
They DON’T LIKE YOU!!
The new government in Iraq has said that they can take over completely the security of Iraq “within a year”
You need to “stay with it”
FINALLY
If you pull out now, you will look to the rest of the World like LOSERS!
TinyTin Pot Countries can kick the a@@ss of America!!
Do you REALLY want that tag???

I disagree with the way the War is being fought. The occupation has become a disaster.
To leave now though would be a huge mistake. As unstable as it is now, it would become much worse. Saudi Arabia has already said IF the US were to leave they would send troops in. Which of course would cause the Iranians to pour troops across the border.
There is where the worlds problem would start. Oil flow would be disrupted not only to the US, but to the rest of the world too.
And it's just not oil/gas for cars. Heating, electricity, plastics and any other use that one can think of for oil would come to a screeching halt.
Unless each of us drives Solar Powered Cars, Heating and Solar Powered Electrical Generators, life as we know it would come to a end.
I don't like the idea of fighting a war for oil, and it seems we are doing that. But, there are no other alternatives at this point. As citizens we have not demanded enough from out leaders to provide us with alternative forms of energy. That is how I see it

I must say that you have a different yes extremely valid point of view. Wouldn't it be great if we didn't have to wage war to solve this issue. I've been watching the news and I see that this war is being fought right in their neighborhoods. More than anything I see the children there. I feel that children are more innocent than anyone and shouldn't have to go through these things.
@CallMeDaddy (535)

That is true these children are the rulers of tommorow just like our own children and if they are mistreated by Americans or even worse Their family are killed by americans then they will hate us. Infact they may turn to the rebels simply because they have no parents and become an Osama * 10. That is just something to think about.

I agree with that perspective. Additionally, the more violence they see, the more violent they will become in the future.
This war is really tough. As a veteran, and an American, I really admire, and pity the troops at the same time.
But as I mentioned, this war is about $$$ and control of Oil. This is a situation that needs to be stabilized as
soon as possible for the troops to come home.

you won't look weak if you pull out.
if anything people might respect you for it. i don't mean you in particular.
just saying the war on iraq was never justified to begin with.
if you pull now, yes, lot of time an effort gone. bush still ranting about how he wants to make evrything a better place to be, but pull out and you see how the world responds.
it will be a good response. if the people collectively sound as if they wanted the troops back (people on many forums ARE saying that) then the critical eye that as of now glares at the usa (bush, he's the reason) will melt like CHOCOLAT (hot).....
yup pull out. there was no reason to go there to begin with.
nobody flame me for this please. im not just speaking my mind. i speak for lots of people who i've listened to speak on this.lots of people.

In my opinion, the answer is clear-cut - of course we should pull out of Iraq. You are right in that if we pull out, we will leave a mess behind, but I personally believe that the U.S. needs to stop policing the world. Granted, what the U.S. fights for generally is noble and benefits innocent people, but Iraq is different. I mean, c'mon - we bombed a sovereign nation without being provoked and without the approval of the UN. That alone goes against what America stands for. Iraq resembles the Vietnam War. Why is it again that we are in Iraq in the first place? I'm not clear at all on that. Was it to remove a dictator on the surface or was it all about oil beneath it all? The whole thing is seedy and I think that we need to get our brothers and sisters and sons and daughters back home and out of harm's way. But that's just my opinion.

Yes, the USA should pull out of the Iraqi war. I'm tired of all the arguments about America looking weak, or "there'll be a bloodbath," etc. If we pull out right now there'll be a bloodbath. If we pull out ten years from now there'll be a bloodbath. We might as well pull out now and get it over with and bring our soldiers home.

Good point. The people we are fighting are proud to die so if soldiers are killing people it is only intensifying the war. I'm not sure if pulling out is the answer, but I don't think staying there is the answer either. So what is the answer.

Mr.Bush is another barking dog. Everyday he keeps on barking. Either he should bite all the militants or keep quiet, looking to his country`s welare. Perhaps you must be knowing that if one dog barks, nearby dogs also starts barking. It is better to stop barking. This is my feeling.

I think it was an exercise in futility.
The reasons Bush gave to engage in war were flawed and lies.
FACTS:
Kuwait used to be part of Iraq and was taken by the British and a puppet kingdom was created in order to supply oil.
US oil companies were slant drilling under the Iraq border and stole billions of dollars of Iraqi oil.
Iraq became pissed off with this and invaded Kuwait, taking back what was once theirs.
Bush and the oil companies got pissed of at this and brought out the big stick and the propaganda.
You all suck in the propaganda just like the German population during the 1930's.
There were NO weapons of mass destruction.
THE reason for going to war.
THE real reason is securing Iraqi oil for the western world, F$#@k the poor buggers that actually live their, we'll bulldoze their farms for them.
Read your history books folks, the truth is out there.

I think that the United States should not have invaded Iraq in the first place. I think the US thought it was going to be an easy victory and it has turn into a nightmare. I think they need to figure out ways to reduce our casualties over there or figure out a strategy that going to work. Bush says he wanted to send more troops. Maybe this is the answer, but if this does not work just get out of Iraq.

You cannot combat "terrorism" with artilerry or tanks nor planes. To combat terrorism, yes maybe a very limited military operation is needed with the cooperation of the country popular government ( not daily bombards in afghan and Iraq, or supporting Somalia trans government who don't have any popularity on his own people ).
Basically, you can't defeat "terrorism" with firepower, or giving money to government that conduct major abuse or terrorizing its population.
