Coffee - any good instant (gasp!) coffees?

I am close to being a coffee purist: I buy whole beans, good quality dark french or espresso roasts or a nice morning blend. I have a great manual coffee grinder; Plunger pots or 1-cup filters. But I do travel a fair amount and sometimes want a decent cup of coffee in my hotel room. Does anyone know of any decent brands of (gasp) instant coffee? I look in the grocery store and it is all freeze dried toxic avenger mud crystals. And the "vanilla vienna coffee" chemical poly-hypersaturated sweeteners mixes are no better. Any suggestions on a good instant coffee?

Hi there, I used to own an espresso coffee bar, so I know exactly what you mean... if I have to drink instant I drink freeze dried. Have you tried the freeze dried - or are you just turned off by it? The one brand that I can recommend (as this is really bad) is the Walmart brand one. At least in Canada it is actually pretty good as far as instant goes...
