Is Harry Potter the heir of Gryffindor?

Harry Potter wanted to know why Voldemort chose to destroy him instead of Neville. My theory is that Harry may be a descendant of Godric Gryffindor. Why else did Dumbledore keep saying in "Half-Blood Prince" that Harry's blood is more valuable than the headmaster's?

I think he is, however I heard that it might just be one of those things were they would like you to think that. So it may be someone else. I guess we'll have to wait and see. Can't wait till the 7th book comes out though! Have they set the date yet? The 5th movie comes out in June :)

According to veritaserum.com, the release date of "order of the phoenix" is july 13, 2007. Book 7 may come out at around that time as well.

i think harry is the hier of gryffindor...... thats y he is the half blood prince n too he was able to take out the sword of gryffindor in chamber of secrets.......... whatever harry is the best i just love harry potter.........

probably because Dumbledore knew he was going to die and that it part of Harry's destiny to fight Voldemort, and as the person above said, voldemort chose harry over neville because he was also a half-blood like him

I never thought about it but you know it does make sense. It would explain why Harry had so many Gryffindor qualities. It would also explain why the sword was there for him to use when he needed in in the second book. It's at least a plausable theory. One I could see being done.

i dont think harry is the heir to gryffindor,because in the first book when the sorting hat was placed on his haed,it wanted to put him in slytherin. and also harry can speak parseltongue,it seems unlikely that he is gryffindor's heir.

according to dumbledore (chamber of secrets), voldemort may have transferred some of his powers to harry when LV tried to kill HP. and in the "order of the phoenix," the prophecy said LV will mark the chosen one as his equal.

This was already solved. Dumbledore ssaid that voldemort chose harry over neville, because, like him, harry was a half blood.

It could be but i dont see any use of him being a heir of gryfindor its gonna be , abt the horcruxes and its gonna be he final Fight between potter and voldy but its a nice theory worth reading
