Do you prefer reading the manga or watching the anime?

The anime and the manga are usually slightly different. Like, there's a scene in the anime/manga that does not appear or is of a different background in the manga/anime. Personally, I think I prefer the anime. You get to hear the songs, the sound effects and the voices as well. And depending on how you read, with or without expression, the manga may not be as enjoyable as the anime.

I watched anime before reading manga, so in a way I suppose it's my favorite. It lasts me longer (I read too fast) and it's something my husband does as well so we can discuss it.
However, since so many anime are made from manga, I often find myself reading manga to get "the rest of the story". There are so many anime that cut off short before really giving an ending, or do sloppy tie-up endings. There are also times when it seems an anime will obviously skip something, and I'll go look up the manga to figure out what was supposed to happen there.

ooh. well i see why you want to read the manga. the anime makers cant help it i suppose. its the same thing as when movies are made based on books: not everything in the movie makes sense if you didnt read the book

I prefer watching anime because I find more exciting and there are lots of actions, fighting and most of all MOVEMENTS. When you're reading, you are just imagining things although reading is a good habit.
Its really fun to watching moving things, especially fights scenes. For me its hard to read books or manga when I came from office, after a long hour of working and I find it more relaxing to sit and watch anime (it may sounds lazy, heheheh).
Anime rocks!

LOL I completely agree with you. When there are any fighting scenes, or scenes where there is a lot of action going on, it is better to watch the anime than to read the manga. For one thing, there are sound effects which is quite difficult to imagine, for me at least.

i prefer watching anime, it's easier to understand the story with animation, voice, sound effects and substitles :) i'm eaily bored by reading manga, others mangas are still in black and white, no color... but my boyfriend has been telling me that there are really good manga titles that are not available in anime...

You're right... Most mangas are in black and white. NOT ATTRACTIVE AT ALL!!
But sometimes the subtitles go missing, like they haven't finished translating the anime or there's something wrong at the tv station, and it's kinda annoying especially since I don't understand Japanese!
And your boyfriend is right, there are manga titles which haven't been converted into anime (yet, if we're lucky enough) but i think there are also anime that isn't available in manga, isn't there?

i like the anime much better. first, because mangas are not usually available in our place and anime in dvds are much popular and easy to get. i could also get an anime by ordering from a friend. i only have one manga and it was only given to me. and then i have a few comics like evangelion and inu-yasha.
i think anime and manga should not be compared coz the media used are different. anime is animation on tv while manga is on print.

i prefer anime over the manga but i still collect mangas... but usually there are segments in mangas that were not told in animes. worst there are whole seasons in mangas that were not played in animes... also, mangas are advance in its story than the anime... so i always read the mangas first specially when i really like the story coz i get to know the next stories faster than waiting for the next episode to be shown in animes... but still, watching anime is better coz u get to hear voices and special effects while in mangas, u have to use ur imagination just to enjoy it

As a general rule, I prefer manga series. Because like a book's adaptation into a movie, certain details may be cut or changed, which is disappointing. Then there's always the possibility of filler episodes, who have a varying quality. Actually, I've seen only one good filler in any anime.
However, watching an anime before reading a manga will change your view, of course.

As of now I prefer reading manga than watching anime. I led a busy life and I can't fit a 30-minute episode anime into my hectic schedule whereas 1 chapter of a manga can just finish in just a matter of 3-5 minutes. Plus I can always bring mangas wherever I go.
