I am just curious. In your country, What is your tradition when it comes to marriage? Whose responsibility is it to shoulder the expenses of the wedding? The husband r the brides family? Here in the Philippines, traditionally it's the man's responsibility to spend for the wedding. I am curious coz my friend is getting married and the husband to be refused to spend a cent because he said that traditionally it's the brides family that should spend for the wedding. Weird.

im a filipina too.and yeah i found it weird when you said its our tradition to let the bride shoulder everything in the wedding. these days its more like the bride and the groom shares for every expenses that gets in their way to make the marriage possible.though those PAMANHIKAN thing still exists before the wedding.

It's true. Nowadays, most couple share the expenses. Doesn't matter how much but they share. If your friend's husband to be is a foreigner, there are countries that do believe that it is the woman's family who should shoulder the expenses. But I once knew someone from UK as well, he was ok paying for the wedding even if by tradition the groom doesnt pay.

I agree with that too. Both the bride and the groom should have responsibility in the wedding expenses. Besides it's their wedding. It is one of a lifetime event for both of them.
