For a long time know i have been wanting to start my own website, the only thing holding me back was a lack of time. Now that i find myself with more time to spare i would like to pursue my dream of starting my own website. I was wondering how many of you out there have your own website and if you could give me a little info on what hardware and software i might need.

Hi.. you wont need to upgrade your hardware. I would use a large hosting company, eg www.godaddy.com at least you know they wont go out of business or pay their bills. They also are quite affordable, and with their hosting accounts , you get free software help setup your site, as well as preinstalled website scripts if you want to go down that path. Also just found this program which I am trying out. Might be worth checking it out too.. http://www.nvu.com/index.php Good luck...

You don't need to upgrade your computer for web design. You can check out www.1and1.com for hosting and domain registrations. They have great packages for the personal sites to business sites. Good luck with your site!
