The stars are called your reputation number. How others on my lot rate your discussion topics, your responses, and by marking the plus sign by each of them. An algarythm firgures the activity of your discussions and the plus pmarks and things like that to acome up with your reputation number. When you get to 100 posts then your reputation number will appear beside your name. It will usually start low but don't worry as you answer more it will go up and the better your answers the higher the number will become. Generally I find if I'm as helpful as I can be then my marks are always positive.

i mostly do hit the + yes, sometimes when i see a non-topic related answer i hit the - I think that that's the way we get our stars yes. I see you're pretty new here so welcome and enjoy your stay.

I also rate answers "-" if they are stupid. To get stars you must first have 100 topics you answered. Then, you will get the stars accordingly to the activity you have on myLot (posting, answering, uploading)

Ithink we get the stars besides our name on the basis of what we answer and the quality of answer accordingly we get starts with 10 the best and 1 the worst

Yes, I see to it that I hit + if the discussion is good or has connection to the topic, but I don't hit -?. I think the stars appear when we try to mark our best response.
