I'll Tell u guys what really Happened....
Actually, Tom Cruise narrowly escaped potentially fatal injuries after a sword was swung within one inch of his neck while filming. He and his co-star Hiroyuki Sanada were acting out a sword fight scene when the incident happened. Sanada swung a sword at Cruise who was on an off-camera mechanical horse at the time. But the machine reportedly malfunctioned and failed to duck at the right moment. Sanada stopped the blade just one inch from his neck.
& you know what....Tom Cruise spent two years preparing for this movie.(Learning how to use the sword, Speak Japanese, etc) & still u would not beleive that Tom Cruise took no "up front" salary for this film.....Amazing....!!!

the last movies? off course not, since there are collateral, war of world, mi3, and one movies hasnt release yet, Lions for Lambs
but about the incident while shooting for the last samurai..tom almost got serious injury, when he is doing sword fighting with ujio (hiroyuki sanada).
tom was stand on a mechanical horse to move him up and down, but when sanada swung his sword toward tom neck, the sword malfunction, and sanada stop the sword just one inch from tom neck.

I never heard that one... I've heard that in one of jackie chan's movies but not with Tom Cruise... Armour of God one os Jackie's movie....

actually, i'd never knew bout the thing bout tom cruise coz all i knew is about the movie and it's really nice..well, i believe that Last Samurai is not the end of tom Cruise for he is a good actor and if that possibly happen maybr it would be the end of the last samurai movie..
