What on earth is Andy Reid smoking now?

I heard this morning that the Eagles signed a professional football player from Australia to possibly replace the punter. Excuse me? To us Americans, that's soccer. What about all of the kids coming out of college? Because right now, they should be focusing on holding onto Stallworth and ridding the team of excess baggage, insead of looking for a new punter!

If he's good enough he deserves it. They need to get a punter sometime if they plan on replacing the punter who cares when they do it. I guess they should be focusing on Stallworth but this may be telling Stallworth that he's not all that and that they aren't going allout to get him. This may help them get him at a lower price. I mean think about it they turn their attention away from him what message does this send him?

Right now, the core of the team is in place and Stallworth is worth holding on to...if we waffle too long, he'll be gone! And we need someone besides Westbrook to catch the ball. They have a punter though and I've never seen Dirk mess up; if anything he's better than some of the kickers other teams have and all he needs is some training to be a kicker. Personally, I think Greg Lewis should go, as well as a couple of other guys that really screwed up this year.

You're right but still Stallworth will start to think that the Eagles will do anything to keep him and that they only care about getting him. Now this sends him a message that he's not the only one and while they would like to resign him they also have other things they need to do this offseason, and that if he's going to keep being diffucult that it's not a for sure thing. Yes, I know the Eagles despretly need him, but you can't just think of it in a fans perspective. There is no doubt a lot more going on behind the scenes that hasn't been leaked to the press yet. Who knows maybe they are a few minor details from signing him, or maybe they've given up on him. Only time will tell, but if Philly needs to fill other spots they got to keep on moving forward no matter what Stallworths plans are. They got to get moving now, and I'm sure in the near future they'll have something worked out. Just hold on and wait for the announcement on sportscenter some morning soon.

Punters out of college are usually projects. I can't think of them, but I'm sure there's been a couple Australian soccer players turned kicker in the NFL. I'm not an Eagles fan so I can't speak to Stallworth. I just want Reid gone so I stop confusing him with Mike Holmgren.

What about the kids coming out of college? They have to be drafted first, so they cannot be signed yet. And why would you waste time or money drafting or waiting to sign otherwise, a PUNTER? Lots of teams have gotten European soccer players as kickers or punters since all they have to do these days is kick.

What's wrong with signing the guy and giving him a chance? Dirk Johnson was hardly anything special last year so why not take a chance and sign someone? Wouldn't you rather find a serviceable punter through FA rather than having to spend a draft pick on one? I certainly would. And as for holding on to Stallworth, that's not looking likely. But as past Eagle teams have shown, having a big name #1 WR isn't necessarily something they need. If Basket and Avant can get better and Brown can continue his strong play, losing Stallworth won't hurt as much as many are saying it will.

I think too much of Lurie's money is tied up in McNabb and Reid anyway. Both think they're in charge of the team anyway. Andy Reid is not a lunatic, but he's so busy trying to keep McNabb happy (go back to 2005, when we were last there) that he ALLOWED T.O. to walk all over everyone and then wouldn't tell him 'put up or shut up'. I think he's rather pathetic, to tell you the truth. As for Jim Johnson, what's he known for? Creating the smallest-sized defensive line in the NFL last year? If it wasn't for B-Dawk, we'd have lost a lot more games. Oh well, we'll just root for our Birds again next year! ;)
