When I was in Ohio recently my oldest neice there showed me her amazing bellydancing moves..she apparently taught herself over the past 1 - 1 1/2 yrs to dance and I have to say she moves BEAUTIFULLY!....Well in any case, seeing how I have always loved watching bellydancing (as well as loving some of the music) and just my being a lover of dancing period since a very young age, I've decided to learn it myself......I also plan this yr to learn more about photography which is another of my loves LOL I'm just not very good at it....
so my question is, are any of you planning on learning something new in 2007..whether its a hobby you want to enhance or fine tune or learning a completely new one or maybe learning a new way of thinking or reacting etc etc...If so, what and why did you choose that particular thing?

Well, I have been doing photography for a long time, but I recently go a new camera that is very professional. :) So, I have to learn how to use this new camera. But I also have to save up some money to buy a new lens. I have the lens that comes with it...but I need a lens that will go up to 200mm. Anything beyond the 200mm is pointless for me. So, that is one thing this year that I am doing.
Also, I plan on working on my other hobby that I have slacked off lately.
Ukrainian Egg Dyeing. It is really interesting but very time consuming.
My older children love doing it too! One has to have a lot of patience to do this type of art work. So I think it is a great exercise for me to keep my patience and teach my children patience.
I think it is wonderful that you learned belly dancing!
I love to dance! Always have! :) Belly dancing is so beautiful! That would be something pretty cool to learn. I bet it made it even more special that it was you niece that taught you. :)

Ukrainian Egg Dyeing....that sounds interesting..how is it different to regular egg dyeing? is it more detailed?

I don't think one is ever too old to learn to dance! :)
Dancing is just something that is enjoyable for all ages.
Even babies dance! :) I have even seen my grandparents dance. That was a sweet sight!

I think belly dancing is cool. There's a little strip mall a few miles away that offers classes and I have been thinking about signing up. I spend to much time on this computer and it doesn't do a body good.
As far as hobbies, a friend here on MYLOT turned me on to a language site offered by BBC so I am going to try and pick up some basic phrases in Spanish, Polish and Hungarian.
I'm also interested in HTML and website design. My15 year old signed up for virtual school. She won't start until September but I plan on learning HTML with her. I have been looking around for an expensive website design class, no luck there yet.

I think bellydancing is fascinating I have been trying to persuade my friends to go to classes with me but no doubt if they did go we all would be laughing while trying all the moves. In September I'm going back to college at the young age of 51 to learn Holistic Therapies. It's a field I've always been interested in so this year I decided to take the plunge and get on with it instead of thinking and regretting!!!! Plus I have also started swimming regularly so that not only do I get fit but I can spend time enjoying a hobby with my grand-daughter.

Yes I always love to learn something new. And also I get pleasure in reading/hearing a new thought, a thought provoking thought. I recently read a thought about Yudas (one of the 12 disciples of Jesus) in the book The Last Temptation of Christ. It gives a completely differnt view/reason to Yudas's life.
