Guardianship of a Nonrelated Minor

A 16 year old minor was kicked out by his father, and is staying with us. He would like to live with us and finish high school. What do we have to do to get guardianship of the minor and support payment from the parents.

Have you talked to his parents? They can willingly sign over temporary guardianship.

I don't believe you can win financial support from the minors parents. The minor either needs to petition for emancipation, or his parents can appoint you his legal guardian, or relinquish their rights to the state.
