You could get an infection. They give you stitches for a reason.
Plus it will be a much more uglier scar.
Now a days they have the liquid stitches. They really don't use any other stitches anymore. The liquid kind is the best, you wont even know its there.

I would have thought from your name that you have someone you could ask about this but I could be wrong.
If the cut isn't serious enough to actually kill you then not having it stitched will just mean that the wound will take longer to heal, leaving a deeper scar and increasing the risk of infection. A number of scars that I have could have been much smaller if I'd had the cut stitched when it happened.

Yep, liquid stitches. It stays on until the area that needed the stitches heals and then it just vanishes. No need to go back to the doctors and have stitches removed.
The doctors used a lot on my daughter because she had a gash on her head that was pretty deep and wide. And it worked good.

If you don't get stitches it will heal. It could take longer or leave a worse scar but it will heal. If you suspect you need stitches though you do have to get them right away. After a few hours they can't do them. Many times people who should have one or two stitches don't bother going in to get it done. They just clean it and bandage it and do fine with it. However if it is a serious cut you should go in to make sure.
